Poultry imports, egg supply and destination checks

Start with the exact product, then its dated trade evidence and current import conditions. Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Hong Kong have documented flows or supply signals below. None is a list of approved HatchMatch suppliers or an assurance that a shipment is eligible.

Research checked . Historical quantities are not live demand, available stock, prices or project budgets. Authorities can change restrictions after this date; staff and the licensed importer must recheck the exact origin, plant, product and consignment.

Japan

Chicken meat

Japan's chicken-meat imports from Brazil, actual-weight basis · FY2024 (April 2024–March 2025)
429,383 tonnes
ALIC Livestock Yearbook 2025, citing Japan Ministry of Finance trade statistics · reported trade
Brazilian chicken exports to Japan (exporter-reported flow) · 2024 calendar year
437,966 tonnes
ALIC, April 2025, citing Brazil SECEX · reported trade

ALIC reports Brazil accounted for about 70% of Japan's FY2024 chicken-meat imports. Its yearbook treats chicken-meat preparations separately; this is not a 70% share of all poultry species or all processed products. Concentration creates exposure to disease suspensions, regional restrictions and disrupted shipping; ask for an eligible alternative origin and a contingency delivery plan.

Limits: The 429,383-tonne fiscal-year observation is Japanese import data; the 437,966-tonne calendar-year observation is Brazilian export data. Different periods and reporting sides explain why these are not interchangeable. The official denominator is chicken meat, not every poultry product. Raw chicken and heat-treated preparations require separate customs and veterinary scopes.

Eligibility is not confirmed

MAFF Animal Quarantine Service — poultry meat conditions and current suspensions
  • Match origin, municipality/region, establishment and exact product to bilateral animal-health conditions.
  • Recheck HPAI and Newcastle restrictions, slaughter/production dates and certificate wording with AQS.
  • Do not assume heat treatment exempts a product unless the agreed conditions expressly allow it.

Request evidence with scope, issuing authority, date and expiry. An uploaded certificate, past shipment or country approval alone does not prove current plant or shipment permission.

Singapore

Chicken meat · Table eggs

Total chicken supply, not imports alone or a chilled/frozen split · 2025
215,800 tonnes
SFA Singapore Food Statistics 2025, page 6 (published 2026) · reported supply
Total hen shell-egg supply, including local supply · 2025
2,288 million eggs
SFA Singapore Food Statistics 2025, page 6 · reported supply

SFA reports more than 90% food import dependence overall—not a poultry-specific rate. Its 2025 source additions distinguish Lithuania shell eggs; Brazil, Lithuania and Paraguay processed eggs; and Greece, Lithuania and Paraguay poultry. These are dated accreditation changes, not a blanket current shipment clearance (SFA 2025 statistics, pages 6–8).

Limits: Do not substitute processed-egg approval for shell eggs. Paraguay's June 2025 circular specifically covers frozen poultry/poultry products and processed eggs. Aggregate chicken supply does not establish demand for each cut or temperature state.

Eligibility is not confirmed

SFA overseas-source accreditation database
  • Check exact source country, product category and establishment in the current database and approved-source list.
  • Confirm importer licence/permit and product-specific health certificate requirements.
  • The SFA country/product table updated 14 July 2026 lists Brazil for frozen/processed poultry and processed eggs, not shell eggs or chilled poultry. Lithuania shell eggs carry A6 (no establishment approved), despite the 2025 country announcement. Paraguay processed eggs likewise carry A6; frozen poultry is listed separately. Check the table legend and current database, not announcements alone.
  • Match the SFA HPAI suspension list (8 October 2026 snapshot) to exact regions/zones, slaughter/export dates and veterinary treatment conditions. A listed country is not automatic shipment clearance; recheck restrictions before dispatch.

Request evidence with scope, issuing authority, date and expiry. An uploaded certificate, past shipment or country approval alone does not prove current plant or shipment permission.

Saudi Arabia

Chicken meat

Frozen chicken cuts/offal excluding livers — WITS legacy HS020741 series · 2023
327,215 tonnes
UN Comtrade via World Bank WITS · reported trade

Local production and imports coexist. USDA FAS lists chicken-meat production of 1.18 million tonnes in MY2024/25 and a 1.2 million-tonne forecast for MY2025/26; this marketing-year series must not be equated with calendar-year national statistics. Import demand is not evidence that Saudi Arabia is wholly import-dependent.

Limits: The import observation is older and specific to a legacy frozen-cuts series; confirm the HS revision before comparison. MEWA's >85% by 2030 self-sufficiency goal cited by FAS in 2021 is a historical policy target, not today's achieved rate. No Saudi egg-import demand is inferred from domestic egg output.

Eligibility is not confirmed

SFDA current product-first country and establishment lists
  • Select the poultry product, origin country and exact establishment in the SFDA lists; permitted import requires approved establishments. Country listing alone or another meat category does not approve a poultry plant.
  • Check current region-specific HPAI/Newcastle decisions and any documented heat-treatment exception.
  • Confirm veterinary health documentation and recognized halal/slaughter documentation for the relevant meat product; do not apply slaughter requirements to equipment or eggs.

Request evidence with scope, issuing authority, date and expiry. An uploaded certificate, past shipment or country approval alone does not prove current plant or shipment permission.

United Arab Emirates

Chicken meat

Brazilian chicken exports to UAE (exporter-reported flow) · 2024 calendar year
453,763 tonnes
ALIC, April 2025, citing Brazil SECEX · reported trade

An observed chicken trade corridor, not total UAE consumption or proof of local shortage. Separate raw chilled/frozen chicken, cooked preparations and local production plans. Exporter-reported flows may differ from destination customs data and do not measure final consumption or re-exports.

Limits: No UAE table-egg demand/eligibility claim is made. Live-bird, day-old chick and hatching-egg country controls are separate from poultry-meat slaughterhouse approval and do not authorize table eggs.

Eligibility is not confirmed

MOCCAE approved slaughterhouse list — 7 October 2026
  • Match the country, permitted meat type/comments and applicable slaughterhouse approval scope in the 7 October 2026 list, including amendments and suspensions. Recheck the latest version; listed origin is not shipment clearance.
  • Confirm importer permits, veterinary health and applicable halal documentation for the product.
  • Recheck animal-health restrictions and certificate/treatment conditions for the actual origin and dispatch date.

Request evidence with scope, issuing authority, date and expiry. An uploaded certificate, past shipment or country approval alone does not prove current plant or shipment permission.

Hong Kong

Fresh/chilled whole poultry — species to confirm

Fresh or chilled whole poultry — WITS legacy HS020710, not chicken-only · 2024
95,795.4 tonnes
UN Comtrade via World Bank WITS · reported trade

A narrow whole-poultry import signal. The source does not isolate chicken from other species: select the buyer's species and confirm a matching customs code before sizing a chicken program. Do not extend this observation to frozen cuts, processed poultry or eggs.

Limits: Legacy code descriptions must be checked against the applicable HS edition. Trade data and an old approved-plant PDF are not current CFS clearance.

Eligibility is not confirmed

Hong Kong CFS — import control for meat, poultry and eggs
  • Confirm a Department-recognized source and health-certificate issuer, exact product scope and current regional disease suspensions. Apply establishment requirements where the specific route requires them; do not universalize mainland chilled-chicken rules to every origin.
  • Confirm importer registration, relevant import licence and official health certificate.
  • State delivery temperature and remaining shelf life; check egg-specific requirements separately rather than borrowing meat rules.

Request evidence with scope, issuing authority, date and expiry. An uploaded certificate, past shipment or country approval alone does not prove current plant or shipment permission.

Keep food products, breeding material and project procurement separate

Raw fresh/chilled/frozen chicken
Specify species, whole bird or cuts, bone/skin, grade/size, net tonnes per shipment, temperature and shelf life. The existing food brief uses chilled/frozen states; describe fresh/chilled requirements explicitly, never imply a new live-bird option.
Processed poultry
Separate cooked/heat-treated preparations from raw cuts. State recipe/product form, treatment record, packing, allergens and destination certificate scope. No dedicated country-product processed-poultry demand is inferred here; other poultry products receive human scope review.
Table eggs and processed eggs
State food eggs versus egg products, shell colour, grade/weight, eggs per tray/case, quantity, laying/processing window, storage and remaining shelf life. These are not hatching eggs; source accreditation can differ for shell and processed eggs.
Day-old chicks, hatching eggs and breeder stock
No buyer supply category enabled here. Breed/strain, age, fertility or health documentation, origin flock and quarantine conditions need a separate support and veterinary review. Do not submit them as food eggs or use an equipment RFQ as a livestock-order workaround.
Hatchery equipment
Specify eggs set per week, transfer schedule, setters/hatchers, utilities, biosecurity separation, acceptance tests and installation/service scope. Meat import flows do not prove equipment import eligibility or installed capacity.
Farm and turnkey/EPC project procurement
Define broiler/layer/breeder purpose, site, bird capacity, housing, ventilation, feed/water systems and commissioning boundaries. HatchMatch coordinates procurement; it does not build, own or operate the facility.

Before a commercial request

  1. Choose product/species and processing state; state cuts or egg grade/size, packaging and requested certifications.
  2. Enter volume per shipment, delivery frequency, production/delivery window, preferred origin and destination port.
  3. State cold-chain responsibilities, remaining shelf life, Incoterm and named place. Halal is a relevant meat requirement where applicable, not assumed vendor status.
  4. Identify the importer of record and current veterinary/health, origin/plant and disease restrictions. Put documentary questions in handling requirements or notes; private evidence exchange stays with staff.
  5. Declare USD250,000+ total annual/seasonal/lot value for food requests, or USD250,000+ project value for infrastructure. Estimates do not establish a supplier price, available volume or compliance.

HatchMatch is a buyer-first marketplace/intermediary, not a poultry producer, exporter or operator. Buyer tools and buyer service are free; suppliers or financiers may pay under separate commercial arrangements. Requests receive human review, not instant orders; identities and counterparties stay mediated by HatchMatch, with no direct-contact bypass or availability/compliance guarantee.

Markets and product claims held back

South Korea

USDA FAS September 2025 reports imports resumed from HPAI-free Brazilian areas after regionalization was adopted. This supersedes treating the June 2025 proposal as the latest evidence, but is not the final Korean legal instrument or current APQA plant/region clearance. Reported import forecasts are not verified realized trade. No Korea-specific sourcing opportunity is enabled until observed demand and current final product/origin conditions are checked.

No additional countries added without a comparable demand and eligibility check. No new egg-import claims for Japan, Saudi Arabia, UAE or Hong Kong, nor chick/hatching-egg/breeder-stock supply claims for any destination.

Market map

Poultry market map 2025: buyer and source markets by product

Brazil, Poland and the United States were the three largest reported poultry-meat exporters in both 2024 and 2025. Chicks, eggs and equipment have different leaders: each product below uses its own customs code, so meat trade is never used to judge hatchery or chick demand.

Source: UN Comtrade data published by World Bank WITS, checked . 2025 reporting is still incomplete, so a missing or lower 2025 figure can mean "not yet reported". Trade value is a proxy for observed trade — not market size, current price, import eligibility or supplier availability.

Poultry trade by product lane, 2024

Each lane below uses its own customs code. Poultry-meat figures (HS 0207) say nothing about hatching eggs, chicks, table eggs, equipment or projects — and no 2024 figure shows that a country or plant can export today, has stock or will quote.

Figures checked from the 2024 UN Comtrade data published by World Bank WITS. Values are as reported by each customs authority, in US dollars.

Poultry meat — broiler and other poultry, fresh, chilled or frozen

HS 0207: meat and edible offal of poultry of heading 0105, fresh, chilled or frozen. Cooked or prepared poultry (HS 1602) is a different product and is not included.

Eggs in shell — table eggs and hatching eggs together

HS 0407: birds' eggs in shell, fresh, preserved or cooked — all species, table and fertilised hatching eggs combined. The 6-digit split (0407.11 hatching / 0407.21 table eggs of Gallus) was not available from WITS when checked, so these rows are not a table-egg or hatching-egg ranking.

Origin research: leading 2024 exporters

A large 2024 export figure is historical evidence, not proof of current market access or supply. Access is decided per destination, product, region and plant, and changes with animal-disease events.
