United Arab Emirates poultry import guide: trade evidence, permits and border steps

The UAE did not report 2024 trade to UN Comtrade in the WITS tables checked, so no 2024 import value is shown. Brazil reported exporting 453,763 t of chicken to the UAE in 2024 (ALIC, citing Brazil SECEX). Poultry meat must come from slaughterhouses on the MOCCAE approved list for the country and meat type.

Checked . Trade figures are 2025 and 2024 UN Comtrade data published by World Bank WITS, by product code; 2025 reporting is still incomplete. They are historical evidence only — not proof that any origin or plant is eligible today, has stock, or will quote.

Trade evidence by product lane, 2025 and 2024

No 2024 figure is shown for this country.

  • No UAE-reported 2024 rows for HS 0207, 0407, 0105.11 or 8436 in WITS when checked.
  • The Brazil-reported flow is an exporter view and does not measure UAE consumption or re-exports.

How each product lane and code is defined

Official import authority, permit and certificate sources

Eligibility is specific to the commodity, origin country and region, establishment and current disease status, and it changes. Check the current official list for the exact consignment. How rules differ for live birds, hatching eggs, eggs, meat and machinery.

Destination checks before any offer

  • Match the country, permitted meat type/comments and applicable slaughterhouse approval scope in the 7 October 2026 list, including amendments and suspensions. Recheck the latest version; listed origin is not shipment clearance.
  • Confirm importer permits, veterinary health and applicable halal documentation for the product.
  • Recheck animal-health restrictions and certificate/treatment conditions for the actual origin and dispatch date.

Border entry steps

  1. Match country, meat type and slaughterhouse in the current MOCCAE list, including amendments and suspensions.
  2. Obtain the importer permit and present the veterinary health and halal documentation for the consignment.

Buyer checklist and product specification

  • Name the exact product: species, cut or form, chilled or frozen, packing, labelling language and shelf life required on arrival.
  • State the volume per shipment and per year, delivery window and Incoterm, and the total programme or lot value (USD 250,000 or more).
  • Confirm who is the licensed importer of record and who holds the import permit or registration.
  • Ask every offering plant to show it is on the destination's current establishment list for that product — before price is discussed.

Cold-chain and live-animal handling

  • Frozen product is commonly shipped at −18 °C or colder; for chilled air freight, state the remaining shelf life required on arrival.
