Saudi Arabia poultry import guide: trade evidence, permits and border steps

Saudi Arabia reported USD 1.57 billion of poultry-meat imports in 2024 (HS 0207, 605,217 t) and the largest import value for incubators and brooders (HS 8436.21: USD 34.5 million). Poultry meat is admitted only from SFDA-listed countries and establishments; MAPA's 21 October 2026 update lists Saudi Arabia suspending poultry meat from Brazil's Santa Catarina state.

Checked . Trade figures are 2025 and 2024 UN Comtrade data published by World Bank WITS, by product code; 2025 reporting is still incomplete. They are historical evidence only — not proof that any origin or plant is eligible today, has stock, or will quote.

How each product lane and code is defined

Official import authority, permit and certificate sources

Eligibility is specific to the commodity, origin country and region, establishment and current disease status, and it changes. Check the current official list for the exact consignment. How rules differ for live birds, hatching eggs, eggs, meat and machinery.

Destination checks before any offer

  • Select the poultry product, origin country and exact establishment in the SFDA lists; permitted import requires approved establishments. Country listing alone or another meat category does not approve a poultry plant.
  • Check current region-specific HPAI/Newcastle decisions and any documented heat-treatment exception.
  • Confirm veterinary health documentation and recognized halal/slaughter documentation for the relevant meat product; do not apply slaughter requirements to equipment or eggs.

Border entry steps

  1. Select the product, origin and exact establishment in the SFDA lists.
  2. Provide the veterinary health certificate and recognised halal slaughter documentation for meat.

Buyer checklist and product specification

  • Name the exact product: species, cut or form, chilled or frozen, packing, labelling language and shelf life required on arrival.
  • State the volume per shipment and per year, delivery window and Incoterm, and the total programme or lot value (USD 250,000 or more).
  • Confirm who is the licensed importer of record and who holds the import permit or registration.
  • Ask every offering plant to show it is on the destination's current establishment list for that product — before price is discussed.
  • Check region-specific HPAI and Newcastle decisions for the producing state or province.

Cold-chain and live-animal handling

  • Frozen product is commonly shipped at −18 °C or colder; for chilled air freight, state the remaining shelf life required on arrival.

Send an RFQ
