Table eggs and egg products: international trade and buyer map

In 2024 the Netherlands and Poland were the largest reported exporters of shell table eggs, ahead of China, Türkiye and the United States. The Netherlands also led liquid, frozen and dried egg products and dried egg white. Below are the figures by product, verified exporter examples, the buyers each product serves and the official import rules of 16 markets. Hatching eggs are a separate trade and are shown only for comparison.

Checked by the HatchMatch Group editorial team. Every figure, company statement and rule links to its source. Verified means the cited source says it; Uncertain means the source is old, indirect or incomplete.

Product scope: three customs lanes, kept apart

Not included: Hatching eggs (0407.11), other species and preserved or cooked eggs in shell.

HS 0408

Egg products not in shell (liquid, frozen, dried)

For comparison: Hatching eggs (fertilised hen eggs for incubation) — HS 0407.11

Hatching eggs are germinal products: buyers are hatcheries and integrators, rules are animal-health rules for source flocks and hatcheries, and the trade is a different business from food eggs. Iraq's 2024 import record uses the older HS 2017 classification. No hatching-egg company examples were researched for this map.

Permits by product are also in the import permits and veterinary certificates guide.

Questions

Which countries export the most table eggs?
In 2024 UN Comtrade data for shell table eggs of hens (HS 0407.21), the largest reported exporters by value were the Netherlands, Poland, China, Türkiye and the United States. Hatching eggs are excluded, and 2024 trade does not show who can export to your market today.
Are egg products traded separately from shell eggs?
Yes. Liquid, frozen and dried whole egg and yolk use HS 0408, and dried egg white uses HS 3502.11. Destination rules also differ: the United States, Great Britain, Canada and Singapore have separate shell-egg and egg-product conditions.
How are hatching eggs different from table eggs in trade?
Hatching eggs are fertilised eggs for incubation (HS 0407.11). They go to hatcheries and integrators under animal-health rules for source flocks and hatcheries, while table eggs (HS 0407.21) are food under food-safety and egg marketing rules. In 2024 the largest reported hatching-egg exporters were the United States, the Netherlands and Türkiye.
Does a listed exporter mean the eggs can enter my country?
No. Each destination approves origins, establishments and certificates for each product, and avian-influenza suspensions change often. Check the destination authority for the exact product, origin, plant and shipment date.
Can HatchMatch put me in touch with these exporters?
No. The companies are examples from public sources, not a directory. If you send a sourcing request, the HatchMatch team reviews it, carries out trade checks and contacts suitable suppliers on your behalf. The buyer service is free.
