Climate decides the layer house

A layer house holds mature birds for over a year, so heat stress at peak production is a design constraint, not a seasonal nuisance. Peak temperature and humidity decide whether tunnel ventilation with evaporative cooling holds laying rate at the hottest hour, how much fan capacity is needed per house and how the manure system keeps ammonia down.

Layer automation centres on feeding, egg collection, climate and lighting. Weigh labour availability and cost, grid reliability, local technician access and training against eight to ten years of operating cost before deciding how much the farm buys.
