In short
This egg production calculator is a free browser tool for commercial poultry projects. Enter your own figures and it returns a class-4 planning estimate (about ±30%) under conservative, expected and optimistic scenarios. Use it to size an investment and to brief manufacturers — a firm supplier quote always overrides the estimate.
How to use this calculator
- Enter your project figures. Replace the default values in the egg production calculator with your own flock size, targets and local costs. Defaults are commercial-sector averages, not a recommendation.
- Compare the three scenarios. Switch between conservative, expected and optimistic to see how sensitive the result is to your assumptions before committing capital.
- Read the assumptions. Check the assumptions panel so you know what the model excludes — typically taxes, import duties, special civil works and land.
- Turn the output into a quote request. Send the resulting figures in a single request to receive comparable offers from qualified third-party manufacturers.

Common questions
Peak hen-day production is 92-96% for 8-10 weeks; the average over 18-90 weeks lands at 82-86% for modern brown layers under good management. Older or heat-stressed flocks drop 3-5 points.
Extended lay to 90-100 weeks is now standard where bone and eggshell quality hold. Total saleable eggs per hen housed can exceed 500.
Cracks, dirties, floor eggs and grading downgrades typically remove 2-5% of production in a cage or aviary system with automated collection, and more in manual systems. The saleable percentage input applies that loss.
Grader and packing capacity is set by peak daily output, not the cycle average. Use the peak daily eggs and cases-per-hour figures below when specifying graders, conveyors and packers in the RFQ.
