Hatcheries deserve one extra warning: the building and its air handling are as decisive as the incubators. A correct setter in a poorly zoned room will still underperform, which is why hatchery planning starts with workflow and room separation.

Choose the right level of automation

Automation is a trade-off, not a ranking. Basic systems are cheaper to buy and simpler to repair but need reliable labour. Semi-automated systems cover feeding, drinking and climate while leaving collection or handling manual. Highly automated systems reduce labour and improve consistency, and raise the cost of a spare part arriving late.
