How the layout is derived

Welfare rules cap live weight per square metre, not bird count. The tool divides your density cap by target live weight to get birds/m², converts placement into usable floor area, adds 4% for service and equipment space, then splits the covered area into houses that respect your width and maximum length. Tunnel air speed and site geometry are the usual reasons house length is capped at 100–150 m.

What moves the cost band

Climate package, automation level, house structure and insulation, imported versus local supply, freight, installation labour and civil conditions on site. Two farms with identical bird numbers can differ 30–40% in CAPEX purely on climate strategy and ground works, which is why the tool reports a band rather than a single figure.
