Size the eggs-per-hour capacity for a grading and packing line
A grading line is specified in eggs per hour. Divide the eggs you must pack each day by the hours the line will run, then allow for the time the line is not grading. Enter your own figures; nothing is assumed for your flock.
Scenario A
Enter eggs per day and line efficiency to see results.
Scenario B
Enter eggs per day and line efficiency to see results.
Not sure of your daily egg volume? Plan the flock first with the egg production calculator, then check your brief with the RFQ completeness checker.
How it works
Required throughput = eggs per day ÷ operating hours.
Capacity to specify = required throughput ÷ line efficiency. Efficiency is the share of running time the line actually grades eggs (after cleaning, changeovers and stoppages). Ask suppliers for their figure.
Packs per day = eggs per day ÷ eggs per pack, rounded up. Trays assume 30 eggs per filler flat. A pack of 360 eggs equals a 30-dozen case; change it to your pack format.
Limits
Planning estimate only, not an engineering design or a supplier quotation. Eggs per day should come from your own flock records or plan. Grading speed varies with egg size, grade mix, pack formats and machine model; confirm with suppliers.
