Throughput problems are usually calendar problems
A farm running eleven days of turnaround instead of seven has given away most of an extra cycle. Wash-down bottlenecks, slow drying in cold months, and waiting for chicks are the three most common causes — none of them is solved by building.
Infrastructure that shortens turnaround
Where the calendar is the constraint, the project is usually smaller and faster to pay back than an expansion.
- Cleaning and disinfection equipment sized to the house
- Heating and ventilation capacity for faster drying
- Litter or manure removal equipment that clears houses quickly
- Automation that shortens preparation and placement
Then, and only then, add bird places
If cycles per year are already at a realistic ceiling for your climate and market, the remaining lever is simultaneous capacity — which is the more-birds-per-cycle path.
