Brazilian poultry meat into Great Britain: listed zones, approved plants and tariff quotas

Great Britain lists Brazilian zones for poultry meat (certificate model POU): zone BR-3 covers the Distrito Federal, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo, and zone BR-4 Rio Grande do Sul, which was closed for avian influenza from 15 May 2025 and reopened on 20 June 2025. Defra's establishment list dated 23 October 2026 has 93 Brazilian entries for meat from poultry and lagomorphs and 69 for meat products, and none for eggs or egg products. The UK Trade Tariff shows Brazil-specific non-preferential tariff quotas for the frozen, salted and cooked codes we checked. A listed zone and plant do not make a consignment admissible: each shipment still needs the matching GB certificate, IPAFFS pre-notification and border checks.

Each consignment needs the GB certificate for its product and a plant listed for that activity.

Restriction P2 is a prohibition on import into or transit through Great Britain due to an HPAI outbreak; the closing and opening dates decide which production dates are eligible. Imports from areas under official Newcastle-disease restrictions are prohibited. Read the current list on the day you order — zones can close again after a new outbreak.

Approved Brazilian establishments: entries, not endorsements

In Defra's non-EU establishment list dated 23 October 2026 we counted 93 Brazilian entries in the section for meat from poultry and lagomorphs, 69 in the section for meat products, and 0 in the section for eggs and egg products. These are rows on an official list, not a count of businesses, and they do not show that every plant is approved for every product. Defra publishes the names and approval numbers; HatchMatch does not reproduce, rank or endorse them.

Practical consequence: although BR-3 and BR-4 are listed for eggs and egg products, the establishment list read showed no Brazilian egg or egg-product establishment, so HatchMatch does not progress Brazilian egg briefs for Great Britain without written confirmation from APHA.

UK duty and Brazil tariff quotas for the codes checked

Quota balances, allocation periods and any licence or eligibility conditions were not checked and can change daily. The right code depends on the product's composition and processing. Confirm with APHA and the importer before contracting.

  • Cooked and salted products may fall under different certificate models and treatment conditions from raw meat; the model for each product was not verified in this guide.

Buyer questions

Can Brazilian chicken be imported into Great Britain?
Brazilian zones BR-3 and BR-4 are listed for poultry meat on the GB country list read on 25 October 2026, and Defra's establishment list has Brazilian poultry-meat entries. Each consignment still needs a plant listed for that activity, the GB health certificate, IPAFFS pre-notification and border checks.
Which Brazilian states are listed for poultry meat exports to GB?
Zone BR-3: Distrito Federal, Goiás, Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina and São Paulo; zone BR-4: Rio Grande do Sul, which reopened on 20 June 2025 after an avian-influenza closure from 15 May 2025.
Is there a UK tariff quota for Brazilian chicken?
Yes for the codes checked: the UK Trade Tariff shows Brazil-specific non-preferential tariff quotas, for example orders 050362 and 054410 at 0% for frozen boneless cuts under 0207 14 10 00. Quota balances and conditions must be checked on the day of import.
Can Brazilian eggs be exported to Great Britain?
BR-3 and BR-4 are listed for eggs and egg products, but Defra's establishment list dated 23 October 2026 showed no Brazilian egg or egg-product establishment, so HatchMatch does not progress such briefs without written APHA confirmation.
Does HatchMatch import Brazilian chicken or guarantee compliance?
No. HatchMatch is a buyer-side commercial coordinator: it reviews the brief, screens suppliers and compares offers. It is not the importer, exporter, customs broker or certifier; importer and exporter remain responsible for compliance.
